Who we are
This policy explains how the GPS4YOU PET app (the “app”) and gps4you-pet.pl handle personal data. The data controller is [Company legal name, legal form], [Registered address, Poland], [NIP / KRS] (“we”). Privacy questions go to [privacy@gps4you-pet.pl].
Server connection and data
The app is a window onto your account on the GPS4YOU PET server, which we run. When you use it:
- Your sign-in details, account changes, pet details and Safe Zones are sent to the server.
- The server returns the positions, alerts, walks and other data your account is allowed to see.
- The server also receives technical connection information, such as your IP address.
- The server software is based on the open-source Traccar platform. Running it does not send your data to the Traccar project. [confirm the server's optional anonymous statistics setting is switched off]
If a reseller or another company runs the server your tracker is linked to, that company decides how your data is handled and you should read its notice. [confirm whether this applies to your customers]
What we collect
| Data | What it is | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | Name, email address, phone number (optional) | To sign you in, link your pets and contact you about your account |
| Pet location | Precise GPS position, speed, heading, battery level and connection time sent by your pet's tracker | To show your pet on the map, send Safe Zone alerts and run Lost Pet Mode |
| Pet profile | Name, species, breed, birthday, weight, microchip number, emergency contact and an optional photo | To show and share your pet's profile |
| Safe Zones and activity | Zones you draw, alerts, walks and stops | To provide alerts and the Activity screen |

| Family sharing | The people you invite and the role you give them | To share a pet with family and friends |
| Billing and support | Orders, invoices and messages you send us | To handle purchases and help you [confirm payment provider] |
We do not use your data to track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not sell personal data.
Why we use it
- To provide the service you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)): showing your pet, Safe Zones, alerts, Lost Pet Mode, family sharing.
- With your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): push notifications and, on your phone, location for Walks. You can switch these off at any time in iOS Settings.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): keeping the service secure, preventing abuse and fixing faults.
- Legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)): accounting and tax records where they apply.
Device storage and permissions
- The app keeps your sign-in token in the iOS Keychain, and saves the last pet data and pet photos in the app's storage so it can show them when the server cannot be reached. Signing out removes them.
- Location (only while the app is open). If you use Walks, the app uses your phone's location to work out how far your pet is from you. It is never sent to our servers, and the app does not report your location in the background.
- Notifications. Needed to show alerts. You can turn them off in iOS Settings.
- Photos. The app only receives the picture you choose for a pet. It does not read your photo library.
Notifications and diagnostics
- Push notifications are delivered through Apple's Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. A notification token is stored on our server, and these providers process delivery identifiers and the notification text.
- Notification text can include your pet's name and what happened, and may appear on your lock screen. Change previews in iOS Settings if you prefer.
- [State whether the app includes crash or usage analytics (for example Firebase Crashlytics or Analytics). If it does, list what it collects. If not, say: The app contains no analytics or advertising software.]
Who we share it with
We share data only with providers that help us run the service, under data processing agreements:
- Hosting and infrastructure: [hosting provider and country].
- Apple and Google: push notification delivery, as above.
- Apple Maps: map images on your device are provided by Apple under its own privacy policy.
- Payments: [payment provider, if you sell plans directly].
- People you share a pet with: they see the pet's location and status according to the role you give them.
We may also disclose data when the law requires it or to protect rights and safety. Where a provider is outside the European Economic Area, we rely on an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.
Storage and retention
Data is stored with [hosting provider] in [country]. We keep your account data while your account is active. Location history is kept for [retention period, e.g. 12 months]. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data and the pets you own, as described on the account deletion page. We may keep limited records where the law requires it, for example invoices. Backups are overwritten within [backup retention, e.g. 30 days].
Your choices
- Sign out, switch off notifications or location in iOS Settings, or uninstall the app at any time.
- Signing out or uninstalling does not delete your records on the server. To do that, delete your account (More → Account → Delete account) or ask us.
- Records about a pet that someone else owns stay with that owner when you leave their family.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to give you access to your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, and receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. Email [privacy@gps4you-pet.pl]; we answer within one month.
You also have the right to complain to the supervisory authority in Poland: the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa, uodo.gov.pl.
Security and children
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to the server is restricted to the people who need it to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password, keep your phone up to date and only use the app with an HTTPS server you trust.
The app is not intended for children under 16 to use on their own. If you think a child's data was collected without a parent's permission, contact [privacy@gps4you-pet.pl].
This website
gps4you-pet.pl does not use advertising or analytics cookies. The only item it may store in your browser is your light or dark theme and language choice, so no cookie banner is needed. [update if you add analytics]
Changes and contact
We post updates on this page and, for material changes, tell you in the app or by email before they apply. A change to this policy does not by itself allow new uses of your data that need your consent. Questions: [privacy@gps4you-pet.pl] or our contact page.
